{"id":752,"date":"2007-01-29T13:43:07","date_gmt":"2007-01-29T18:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/52.52.55.152\/?p=752"},"modified":"2007-01-29T13:43:07","modified_gmt":"2007-01-29T18:43:07","slug":"we-loved-you-barbaro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jennamagee.com\/?p=752","title":{"rendered":"We Loved You, Barbaro!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While many of you from outside of the United States may have no idea who Barbaro is, this special horse and 2006 Kentucky Derby winner has been fighting for his life for over eight months.  He broke his leg at the Preakness last May with a strange misstep that made everyone cringe as he suddenly started limping and his jockey jumped from his back.  People rallied behind him as surgeries were performed and setbacks overcome.  Just when it seemed like he might finally be going home, Barbaro experienced yet another setback.  And pain that his owners could not and would not allow him to endure.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Barbaro lost the war and was put down.  The specialty center where he was being treated all of these months is about 20 minutes down the road from my house and I watched his story with interest.
