She’s Started!!!

Of course, by “she,” I mean Mirabilia’s Fairy Moon! It was my goal to start her this month and I just barely made it. I pulled the scroll frame out last night and put it onto a lap stand, but I didn’t put in any stitches. I decided that I wanted to start with her hair and face, but I wanted to change her hair color, so I made the color changes last night, with Terry’s help. I was going to choose colors close to my own hair, but that was too boring, so I went with an auburn, with lighter red highlights. I even added copper Kreinik blending filament to the highlights to make them shimmer. I hope it doesn’t turn out to be too much! I think the new colors do go better with the fabric. The jury is still out on that one, though, so I’m asking you, my fair reader, to weigh in. It’s not the best photo in the world, but here’s a reasonable closeup.

I’m such a slow stitcher, it’s not even funny. I started stitching after dinner, a little after 7 PM. I stitched all of the highlights in her hair, but I didn’t finish the main hair color itself. I then switched to start her face, but didn’t come close to finishing that, either. It took me more than 3.5 hours to get not very far! I think this is why I don’t stitch larger pieces. *sigh* She’ll look great someday, though! I’ll try to post a photo with more accurate colors the next time I post an update. For now, these will have to do, since my camera decided to throw a fit when I put in new batteries!

We all stitch one stitch at the time, some slower, some faster. As long as you enjoy it. 😉
