Fairy Violets Boxtop

Quite possibly the last “finish” finish of this year, I have just mounted Fairy Violets into a box top and wrapped it up as a Christmas gift for my mother. I’ve been putting this one off for WAY too long, mostly because I just could not seem to get it mounted straight. It still looks a little wonky to me, but I think it might be an optical illusion due to the octagonal shape of the box. This box is one of my many purchases from the Sudberry House garage sale this past August. It looks like they’ve now discontinued this box, which is a real shame because it’s gorgeous! 🙁

Jenna Jenna — major drool factor — THIS IS A BEAUTY. That box is lovely & I’m sure your gift will be treasured!

Yes, I agree on those box lids. I really don’t know how to put the linen inside. Notice how Sudberry doesn’t have any instructions, either?

It was a major freak show on Christmas Eve — me trying to get Linen and Lace into the box lid. I ended up making it a ‘dome’ shape with 2 layers of quilt batting. Otherwise, when it was flat — it didn’t really look great inside the lid. When it was padded, there was more linen showing around the edge of the design & it was prettier.

Maybe one of the lists will have more tips on that subject. That was my first try with linen in a box lid.
