Weekend Finishes

I’m still plugging away on Just Nan butterflies. This weekend, I started and finished an orange one and a blue one. Unfortunately, I realized today when I added the blue to the finished pile that the orange butterfly was stitched on 28 count fabric, while the rest are on 32 count. Bummer! So, at some point, I’ll finish it off and offer it up for adoption.

I also started, completed and finish-finished a small ornament for my friend Mary, in anticipation of being able to visit with her sometime in the near future. The design is a freebie from The Victoria Sampler called Friends Forever. I think it finished up quite nicely.

Now, I’m working on a dark pink version of the Just Nan butterfly. I could not believe that DMC didn’t have an appropriate set of graduated reds. So I found something that’s a cross between red and pink, as close as I can get. I’ll finish off the original charted pink completely as charted, with beads and extra bits to the design that I previously left off. I’ll finish that one off eventually and maybe offer it up for adoption, as well.

And now for the pictures:

Re; graduated reds–what about using one of the variegated reds and “forcing” the color. That is, using the light bits where you want them and when the color moves to the darker, start again. Sounds like a PITA and a waste of floss, but sometimes it’s what a girl has to do!
